In this study, it was aimed tocompare the effects on postoperative analgesia of xylazine-ketamine combinationor propofol to induction for sevoflurane gas anesthesia. The animal materialconsisted of 14 dogs with limb fracture brought to our clinics. The dogs weredivided into two groups of seven. For induction, it was used combination ofxylazine HCl (1 mg / kg, iv) - ketamine HCl (2.5 mg / kg, iv) in the firstgroup and propofol (6 mg / kg iv) in the second group. In both groups, dogswere intubated and the anesthesia continued with sevoflurane followed byinduction. At the beginning of the operation and at 5, 15, 30, 60, and 90 minutes,body temperatures, respiratory counts, heart rate counts, and oxygen saturateswere recorded. Glucose, AST, ALT, BUN and creatinine values were alsodetermined in the blood serum. Heart rate, respiratory rate and bodytemperature were recorded at 2, 4, 6, 8, 12 and 24 hours after the operation.At the same time postoperatively, the groups were compared according to simple paindefinition scale, Melbourne pain scale and Glaskow composite pain scale. Heartrates at postoperative 4th hour were statistically different in the group butsimilar between the groups. According to simple pain definition scale, Melbournepain scale and Glaskow composite pain scale, there was a statisticallysignificant difference at postoperative 6th hour in the group I andpostoperative 4th hour in the Group II. As a result, it was observed that theanalgesic effect of ketamine was longer in the postoperative period compared topropofol.Buçalışmada sevofloran gaz anestezisi için ksilazin-ketamin kombinasyonu veyapropofol ile sağlanan indüksiyonların postoperatif analjezi üzerine etkilerininkarşılaştırılması amaçlandı. Hayvan materyalini ekstremite kırığı ilekliniklerimize getirilen 14 adet köpek oluşturdu.  Köpekler 7’şerli iki gruba ayrıldı. Birincigrupta indüksiyon amacıyla ksilazin HCl (1 mg/kg, iv) – ketamin HCl (2.5 mg/kg,iv) kombinasyonu, ikinci grupta ise propofol (6 mg/kg, iv) kullanıldı. Her ikigrupta da indüksiyonu takiben köpekler entübe edilerek anestezinin devamısevofloran ile sürdürüldü. Operasyon öncesinde ve 5, 15, 30, 60. ve 90.dakikalarında köpeklerin; vücut sıcaklıkları, solunum sayıları, kalp atımsayıları ve oksijen saturasyonları kaydedildi. Ayrıca kan serumunda glikoz,AST, ALT, BUN ve kreatinin değerleri belirlendi. Operasyondan sonra 2, 4, 6, 8,12 ve 24. saatlerde kalp atım sayısı, solunum sayısı ve vücut sıcaklıklarıkaydedildi. Postoperatif aynı saatlerde basit ağrı tanımlama skalası (BAS),Melbourne ağrı skalası (MAS) ve Glaskow kompozit ağrı skalasına (GKAS) göredeğerlendirme yapılarak gruplar ağrı bakımından karşılaştırıldı. Postoperatif 4.saatte kalp atım sayıları grup içinde istatistiksel olarak farklı bulunmasınarağmen gruplar arasında benzerdi. BAS, MAS ve GKAS’na göre I. Grupta postoperatif6, II. grupta postoperatif 4. saatte istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farkbelirlendi. Sonuç olarak ketaminin analjezik etkisinin operasyon sonrasıdönemde propofole kıyasla daha uzun süre devem ettiği görüldü.
