Communicationamong people from different countries has got easier and easier with thedeveloping technologies. In this process English language has become one of themost spoken languages in the world. So English finds its place in thecurriculums of many countries and it is regarded as a significant subject.Turkey, in parallel with the increasing importance of the English language in theworld, arranged its curriculums to teach English effectively. This study, which isconducted through case study, aims to examine the reflection of Englishteachers’ pre-service education to their teaching practices. 30 teachers whoare in the first ten years of the service and working in central districts ofKonya participated in the study. Data was collected through semi-structuredinterview form and analyzed through descriptive analysis. The study concludesthat teachers take enough lessons in the field of developing language skillsbut they do not take enough lessons in teaching listening, speaking, readingand writing, that they do not have enough opportunities to practice teachingand that they are lacking in developing and adapting material for teachingthese skills. Nevertheless, among the teachers who took lessons about teachingthese skills in the pre-service education, reflection rate of these lessons isfound to be quite high except for the reading skills. |

Teknolojinin gelişmesiyle birlikte farklı ülkelerdeninsanların birbiriyle iletişim kurması kolaylaşmış hatta bu bir ihtiyaç halinegelmiştir. Bu süreçte İngilizce dünya genelinde en çok konuşulan dillerden birihaline gelmiş ve bu sebeple birçok ülkenin eğitim programlarında da yabancı dileğitimi kapsamında tercih edilmekte ve önemli görülmektedir. Türkiyeİngilizcenin artan önemine paralel olarak vatandaşlarına bu dili etkili birşekilde öğretmek amacıyla öğretim programlarını düzenlemiştir.Nitel araştırmadesenlerinden durum çalışması deseninde yürütülen bu çalışmanın amacı İngilizceöğretmenlerinin hizmet öncesinde aldıkları eğitimin öğretim uygulamalarınayansıması olarak belirlenmiştir. Çalışmaya Konya ili merkez ilçelerde görevyapan ve öğretmenliğinin ilk 10 yılı içerisinde olan 30 öğretmen katılmıştır.Veriler yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme yöntemi ile toplanmış ve betimsel analizile çözümlenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda öğretmenlerin dil becerilerinigeliştirme alanında yeterince ders aldığı ancak dinleme, konuşma, yazma ileokuma becerilerinin ve dilbilgisi kurallarının öğretimi konusunda yeterinceders almadığı ve uygulama yapma fırsatı bulamadığı, bu becerilerin öğretimindekullanılacak materyalleri geliştirme ve uyarlama alanında eksikliklerinin bulunduğuortaya çıkmıştır. Bununla birlikte hizmet öncesinde dil becerilerininöğretimine yönelik ders alan öğretmenler arasında bu derslerin öğretmenlerinöğretim uygulamalarına yansıma oranı okuma becerileri hariç oldukça yüksekolarak bulunmuştur. |
