Bu çalışmada sınıf öğretmeni adaylarının empati hakkındaki görüşlerini belirlemek ve Hayat Bilgisi dersine yönelik geliştirdikleri empati temelli etkinlikleri incelemek amaçlanmıştır. Nitel araştırma yöntemi kullanılan çalışmada, Sınıf Öğretmenliği Anabilim Dalı 3. ve 4. sınıf öğretmen adaylarından oluşan toplam 46 kişi belirlenmiştir. Öğretmen adaylarına empati kavramı ve Hayat Bilgisi derslerinde empatinin önemi hakkındaki görüşlerini belirlemeye yönelik sorulardan oluşan açık uçlu anket ve görüşme uygulanmıştır. Ayrıca İlkokul 3. sınıf Hayat Bilgisi ders kitabında bulunan konulardan empatik etkinliklere yer verilmiş olanlar tespit edilmiş, ardından öğretmen adaylarının bu konuların kazanımlarıyla ilgili olarak alternatif etkinlikler geliştirmeleri istenmiştir. Elde edilen veriler doğrultusunda öğretmen adaylarının genel olarak empatiyi önemsedikleri, Hayat Bilgisi başta olarak diğer derslerde de kullanılmasının önemli olduğunu düşündükleri görülmüştür. Ayrıca öğretmen adaylarının geliştirdikleri etkinliklerde örnek olay incelemesi, drama, resim çizme, altı şapkalı düşünme, mektup ve günlük yazma gibi yöntemler kullanarak konuyla ilgili etkinlikler oluşturdukları görülmüştür. Öğretmen adayları oluşturdukları empati temelli etkinliklerin Hayat Bilgisi dersinde öğrencilerin aktif olmaları için oldukça önemli olduğunu düşünmektedirler.
Thepurpose of this study is to determine the viewpoints of teacher candidates onempathy and examine the empathy-based activities they have developed for Life StudiesCourse. In the study using qualitative research method. It was specified atotal of 46 people consisting of 3rd and 4th grade from Pre-Service ClassroomTeacher Education Department. Open-ended questionnaires and interviews wereconducted on the teacher candidates to identify the concept of empathy and the coursesof Life Studies. Those who have been involved in the empathic activities of thesubjects in the 3rd grade Life Studies text books of the primary school wereidentified, and then the candidates were asked for alternative eventdevelopments regarding the achievements of these subjects. In terms of the dataobtained, it has been seen that the prospective teachers generally regardempathy as important, and that it is important to use it in other subjects,especially at this course. It has been seen that teacher candidates havedeveloped activities related to the topic by using methods such as case study,drama, picture drawing, six hat thinking, letter and diary writing. Teachercandidates think that the empathy-based activities create are very importantfor the students to be active in Life Studies Courses.
