The purpose of this study is toexplore 5th and 8th grade secondary school students’ writing tendencies viausing a writing tendency scale after being translated into Turkish, andoriginally developed by Piazza and Siebert (2008). The research is of a descriptivefield study grounded in the survey model. The population of the study consistsof 5h and 8th grade secondary school students studying in the province ofBurdur and the sample is comprised of 322 students chosen from 6 schools in thesame province. The data collection tool is Piazza and Siebert’s (2008) writingtendency scale, translated into Turkish for the purpose of this study. Thescale embodies the components of passion, confidence and continuity. Accordingto the results, more positive tendencies were observed among male studentscompared to female students, 5th grade students compared to 8th grade students,those students involved in free writing activity compared to those who werenot, those loving the Turkish classes compared to those who did not, and amongthose students with high marks compared to those with low marks. |

Bu çalışmanın amacı Piazza veSiebert tarafından (2008) geliştirilerek Türkçeye uyarlaması yapılan yazmaeğilimi ölçeğini ortaokul 5. ve 8. sınıf öğrencilerine uygulayarak öğrencilerinyazmaya yönelik eğilimlerini belirlemektir. Araştırma, tarama modelindebetimsel bir alan araştırmasıdır. Araştırmanın evrenini, Burduril merkezinde öğrenim gören ortaokul 5. ve 8. sınıf öğrencileri, örneklemini iserandom yöntemiyle aynı il merkezindeki altı ortaokuldan seçilmiş toplam 322öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak Piazza veSiebert tarafından (2008) geliştirilerek Türkçeye uyarlaması yapılan tutku, güven ve süreklilik boyutlarındanoluşan yazma eğilimi ölçeği uygulanmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgularagöre erkek öğrencilerin kız öğrencilere göre, 5. sınıf öğrencilerinin 8. sınıföğrencilerine göre, serbest yazma etkinliğini her zaman yapanların yapmayanlaragöre, Türkçe dersini sevenlerin sevmeyenlere göre ve ders notu yüksek olanlarındüşük olanlara göre yazma eğilimlerinin daha olumlu olduğu sonucunaulaşılmıştır. |
