Energy potential from gasification of agricultural residues in Burdur, Turkey

Abstract

Description

Gasification is one of the major waste to energytechnologies for renewable energy production. Agricultural residues have highpotential to be used as significant source of renewable energy in Turkey. Inthis study, different gasification systems are compared to estimate thebioenergy potential of agricultural residues in Burdur province. Syngasproduced from gasification process can be used as renewable fuel in internalcombustion engines, turbines and boilers. Syngas energy potential ofagricultural residues from air gasification of agricultural residues areevaluated in up-draft fixed bed, down-draft fixed bed and circulating fluidizedbed systems. The results revealed that down-draft gasifier has shown thehighest annual energy production potential of 402 MW in Burdur province.
