The aim of thisstudy is to develop a scale to determine the challenges faced by noviceteachers in the first year. The study was conducted with 329 novice teachers.Research data was obtained from five point Likert type scale with 46 items. Asa result of Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), it was found that the scale hasfive factors with 35 items and explains 56.486% of the total variance. Cronbach Alpha values aimed at determiningreliability of the scale was found as 0.91 for the first factor, 0.81 forsecond factor, 0.87 for third factor, 0.88 for fourth factor, 0.83 for fifthfactor and 0.92 for total scale. It was concluded that the scale is a valid andreliable tool for determining the challenges faced by novice teachers in thefirst year.
